Drugs

Ultram is the brand name for an extended-release form of tramadol, a synthetic opioid painkiller. Although not as strong as other painkillers, Ultram abuse is still highly dangerous – especially if it accompanies other substances, such as alcohol. Also, tramadol has very harmful interactions with SSRIs; Ultram abuse can cause serotonin syndrome in some people.

Like all opioids, Ultram abuse can be somewhat difficult to treat. Withdrawal from Ultram addiction can be prolonged and unpleasant. A detox can make Ultram withdrawal easier to manage.
