TUSSIONEX

Tussionex is a cough syrup containing a combination of the opioid hydrocodone with chlorpheniramine, an antihistamine. Used as directed, Tussionex is safe. Tussionex abuse, on the other hand, isn’t. All opioids are habit-forming, and hydrocodone is no exception. Plus, when Tussionex abuse is combined with other substances, particularly alcohol, hydrocodone can be lethal. 

There’s an additional risk involved with Tussionex abuse, however. Large amounts of antihistamines like chlorpheniramine can cause serious side effects. Like all opioids, recovery from Tussionex addiction can be difficult. A detox center can help patients manage Tussionex withdrawal.
