A prescription medicine classed as an antihypertensive, clonidine is used to treat high blood pressure. It’s also sometimes used with other drugs to tread ADHD and anxiety, among other disorders. Clonidine can also help with detoxing from other drugs. Brand names include Catapres, Nexiclon, and Kapway. 

Clonidine isn’t especially addictive, but it does have a calming effect similar to tranquilizers. It’s also most often abused with other drugs.
