Drugs

Part of an emerging family of designer drugs called “new psychoactive substances,” bath salts are designer drugs made with mephedrone, methylenedioxypyrovalerone, and pyrovalerone. These drugs are synthetic stimulants with wildly unpredictable effects.

Called “bath salts” and labeled with statements like “not for human consumption” as legal fig leaves, these drugs were once legally available to teens and adults. Due to state and federal crackdowns, they’re much harder to get. Nevertheless, bath salts can still be found and are powerfully addictive.

The effects of bath salts can result in everything from anxiety to violent outbreaks and death. Detoxing from bath salts is best done under medical supervision at a detox center.
